New StarCraft II Trailer Brings My Hype Levels To Code Red

by Phil Kollar on Jul 21, 2010 at 12:25 PM

With StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty less than a week away from release, I was already basically a big drooling ball of excitement who's been thinking about nothing but Blizzard's sci-fi RTS epic for a while now. Just ask my co-workers. I won't shut up about it. Just when they thought it couldn't get any worse, Blizzard releases this new TOTALLY INCREDIBLE trailer.

Titled "Ghosts of the Past," this two-and-a-half minute video was released as a bonus to the StarCraft II community for getting enough people to sign up at the "Join the Dominion" website. It shows off a whole lot of everyone's favorite Terran, Jim Raynor, as he contemplates some regret-filled moments from the series past and begins planning for the future.

There are some big hints to the direction of StarCraft II's plot, so if you plan to go into the single-player campaign totally fresh next week, hold off from watching this video. But for anyone who's not worried, I highly recommend viewing it, even if you're not a StarCraft fan. This is yet another testament to Blizzard's skill at crafting insanely visually impressive trailers and compelling characters and stories.
