Ignition Entertainment Undergoing A Makeover

by Meagan Marie on Jul 19, 2010 at 11:35 AM

Rebranding under parent company UTV Group, Ignition Entertainment (Deadly Premonition) will henceforth be known as UTV Ignition Entertainment. With this shift also comes an increased focus on development for online platforms, according to Gamasutra.

The online push will entail marketing and developing games for online spaces, specifically downloadable venues like Xbox Live, PSN and Steam. Facebook, Google Games, and Apple devices were also noted as potential avenues. Ignition has already moved into the downloadable space with their most recent release, Blacklight: Tango Down.

Hassan Sadiq, a chairman at UTV Ignition,  stressed that the industry is changing and evolving, and consumers want more content for their dollar, a fact that has pushed them to publish games at a lower price point. He stressed, however, that consumers will receive the same level of quality as retail package counterparts.

Ignition is currently slated to release the visually stunning El Shaddai, amongst a few other titles. Considering the unique nature of the last few titles Ignition has published (Deadly Premonition, Muramasa: The Demon Blade), we’re excited to see what they do in the digital space.
