World Of Warcraft Out-Of-Game Auctions To Cost $3 A Month

by Phil Kollar on May 20, 2010 at 10:06 AM

Earlier this year Blizzard announced that they would be introducing a way of accessing the in-game auction house in World of Warcraft while logged out. That service has officially launched in its first phase, allowing you to explore the auction house on any browser or from your iPhone. The ability to actually bid or create auctions is still coming...and it's going to cost money.

Right now you can visit the WOW Armory and browse any current auctions as well as getting updates on when your auctions have sold or when you've won an auction. You can also check out all the items you have in your various bags and bank slots.

Want to actually bid on an auction or put an item up for auction without logging in? Unfortunately, that functionality isn't quite ready, but when it is, it's going to come at a price: $2.99 a month to access the improved subscription version of World of Warcraft Remote.

It's also worth noting that Blizzard is putting a cap on the number of transactions possible through the remote auction house each day. In order to curb any potential abuse, you'll only be able to do 25 transactions a day through the beta period, though that number will rise to 200 per day once the final version of the service has launched.

Are you willing to pay a small extra fee on top of your monthly MMO subscription to have access to out-of-game services such as the remote auction house?
