StarCraft II: Wings Of Liberty Summer Release Confirmed

by Phil Kollar on May 03, 2010 at 11:20 AM

After months of intense beta play and tons of speculation, Blizzard has finally announced an official release date for StarCraft II.

One of the most anticipated releases of all time, this sequel to the classic real-time strategy game will launch on July 27 in the United States, Canada, Europe, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Mexico, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau (phew). Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime commented:

"We've been looking forward to revisiting the StarCraft universe for many years, and we're excited that the time for that is almost here. Thanks to our beta testers, we're making great progress on the final stages of development, and we'll be ready to welcome players all over the world to StarCraft II and the new Battle.net in just a few months."

Pretty sure we'll be ready too, Mike. The only thing left is to decide whether you'll be grabbing the regular $60 version of StarCraft II or the super-nice $100 collector's edition.
