Katamari Damacy Creator To Design Children’s Playground

by Meagan Marie on Oct 28, 2009 at 04:26 AM

Dreams really do come true. Today we learned that Japanese video game creator Keita Takahashi has been given the opportunity to realize one of his long-time dreams – designing a playground for children.

Takahashi has proven his creative prowess as the mastermind behind Katamari Damacy and Noby Noby Boy. He has expressed interest in designing playgrounds numerous times throughout his career, and today it was announced that he will be given the opportunity to show the children of Nottingham City what he’s got.

A formally trained artist as well as game designer, Takahashi will spend a month in Nottingham City, consulting local school children, community figures and NCC Landscape Architects to further flesh out his ideas for the playground. The NCC selected Woodthorpe Grange Park for the Takahashi-branded playground, hoping that the naturally rolling hills will result in a more creative end product.

A tentative debut window has yet to be released for the project, but we will keep you updated. Takahashi has proven his ability to create captivating and dreamlike landscapes in his digital work, so we have full faith that this endeavor will result in a work of art.
