Limited Edition Black Wii Announced For Europe

by Meagan Marie on Oct 20, 2009 at 09:57 AM

And it sure is pretty. The question is – why hasn’t a similar bargain been announced for North American consumers? Your guess is as good as ours.

Nintendo revealed today that the black Wii will be migrating to Europe via a new bundle. The UK and Ireland will be able to pick it up at retail on November 6, with mainland Europe lagging slightly behind with a November 20 release. Bundled with a matching Wii Remote, Wii Motion Plus accessory and Nunchuck, the pack also includes Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. Additionally, European consumers will have a chance to nab a black Classic Controller starting November 20.

Just last week, Nintendo introduced a black Wii Remote and Nunchuck in the states. Our readers were obviously excited about it, aside from the glaring omission of a black console. Considering owners are willing to pay $70 for a different colored controller, it seems odd that Nintendo hasn’t yet capitalized on a matching Wii.

Moving from Japan to Europe, it appears that the black Wii is slowly making its way westward. We contacted Nintendo for an official update. As expected, the response was cryptic – “We have nothing to announce about the availability of the black Wii console in North America at this time.”

We just hope North America will get a similar bundle in time for the holiday rush.
