Namco Bandai "Thinking About" Tales Of Vesperia Sequel

by Phil Kollar on Oct 17, 2009 at 05:59 PM

Love it or hate it, the Tales series is a JRPG mainstay, and last year's 360-exclusive Tales of Vesperia was considered one of the strongest entries yet by fans. Between the new PlayStation 3 port of the game in Japan and the recent premiere of Tales of Vesperia: First Strike, a theatrical movie based on the game, the world of Vesperia still has plenty of tales left to offer. An interview at the movie premiere celebration revealed that even more might be coming.

Andriasang (via VG247) reports that Namco Bandai general manager Makoto Yoshizumi was on hand to answer questions about Vesperia at the event. When asked if a sequel was possible, he said that even internally staff members have been asking about a sequel and wanting to work on one. "We're thinking about it," Yoshizumi concluded.

He seemed even more positive on the possibility of a second Vesperia film, noting that there's already been a lot of discussion about what they would do in a second movie.

Neither the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia nor Tales of Vesperia: First Strike have been confirmed for North American localization. While that's unfortunate, a sequel to the game would almost certainly make its way to our shores, so fans have plenty left to hope for. If you haven't yet played the original and are wondering why there would be any clamoring for a sequel, be sure to check out Game Informer's review.
