Blog Herding – The Best Blogs Of The Community (September 1, 2016)

by Game Informer Editorial on Sep 01, 2016 at 06:01 AM

Skyrim, Dark Souls, and Uncharted 4 all get some love this week from G.I.'s talented community bloggers, while others delve back a bit further in their reminiscing. Happy reading!

Community Blogs For August 25 – August 31:

My First Games Memories
Our blogger, GerardoExber takes us on a trip through his gaming history. He had me at Dragon Ball (I remember playing a friend's imported DBZ games – the good ones) and he seals the nostalgia with mention of Resident Evil 2 and Parasite Eve. The first two Eve games, along with Bloody Roar, are some of my favorite PS1 games. What I'm trying to say is Gerardo knows his games, and his memories are making me long for the days of yore.

Berserk Musou – Everything Revealed So Far
Berserk is one manga that I loved playing in video game form (thank you, Dreamcast. May you rest in peace), and Katzenbalger is here to give you all the details of what looks to be a fun interpretation of the sad, gory story.

Why Uncharted 4 is the Best in the Series
I could not read all of this blog for fear of spoilers (I'm super behind on my gaming...), but I agree with drmuffin1080: Uncharted 4 has blown away the past three games. Uncharted 2 still stands the test of time and is fantastic thanks to its cast of characters (some I wish returned), but four is beautiful, heart wrenching, and just so human.

Rediscovering Gaming
Sometimes you lose your gaming way. Whovian223 has had this happen, only to find it much later. I've been there: You stop reading about games, start doing other things, and just take a break. It's not a bad thing, but it happens.

Writing Challenge Responses:

Community Writing Challenge: A place of my own in a crazy world
What is a home? To Brendon Curzio, it is somewhere safe, somewhere to put up his feet, relax, unwind, and think of the adventures ahead. The game's that do this best for him are all in the Souls series. For a series of games that can be so challenging, it seems as though they know how to let players unwind.

Community Writing Challenge: Feeling at Home in Skyrim
Refle calls night his home, specifically the night featured in Skyrim. This is a creative entry and I love it. While he does have an abode to chill in at night, it's the walking outside for a calm moment or two that seems to really stand out for him.

Community Reviews:

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Review: It's All In The Name
I've only enjoyed the first game of this storied franchise (not the Xbox 360 game), and lovemeorshootme does not make me want to play any of the new ones.

Bound Review: Narratively-Challenged, Visually Delightful
The headline to Marcus Stewart's review reminds me a little on my thoughts of Furi – but I absolutely loved that game. However, where Furi works on a Prophet comic level, Bound just misses out on being a classic.

Community Writing Challenge:

Most memorable bosses. Tell me about them. Why do they haunt your waking nightmares, give you goosebumps, or make you happy?

Community Playdate:

I'll be out of town soon, but I have some big plans to kickstart this feature.

I hope you enjoy the blogs! Please contact me via my Game Informer page or on Twitter at @LouisGarcia12 with any blog news or playdate suggestions.
