Pokémon Go turned two years old this week, and to celebrate, Niantic is flooding the world with Pikachu wearing sunglasses and a straw hat.
The Summer Style Pikachu is set to appear more frequently throughout the world until July 31. If you evolve your Summer Style Pikachu to Raichu, it also rocks the shades and hat. Pichu is also appearing more frequently.
In addition, special Pikachu-related items are now on sale in the trainer store for players who have the Pikachu Fan medal. If you have it, you can deck out your avatar in Pikachu apparel ranging from shirts to Pikachu ears.
In a footnote to the announcement, Niantic teased the next questline in the Special Research tasks for mythical Pokémon. In March, players began a quest for Mew, and Niantic is teasing an additional questline that culminates with catching Celebi. Niantic promises that the Celebi Research Tasks will be implemented "in the near future."
If you're a fan of Pokémon wearing sunglasses, this weekend's Community Day offers the chance to catch Squirtle sporting shades.
