Koei Tecmo Promises Plenty Of Hyrule Warriors Updates Post-Release

by Dimitri Gedevanishvili on Aug 14, 2014 at 10:47 AM

To commemorate the Japanese release of Hyrule Warriors, Koei Tecmo shared an important piece of information regarding its title. Despite not releasing worldwide yet, the publisher promises to provide long-term support for the upcoming hack-and-slash title.

Taking to its official Twitter account, the Hyrule Warriors developer dropped a tweet regarding future support for the game. In addition to the promise of long-term updates and bug fixes, Koei Tecmo will be bringing "large-scale mode expansions" in the future. This is all roughly translated from this tweet.

It can be assumed that the "large-scale mode expansions" imply the potential for additional features – perhaps even characters, weapons, maps, and enemies – though there is nothing confirmed as of yet. Hyrule Warriors releases in North America on September 26 exclusively on Wii U. To see who you will be able to fight as, click here.

Our Take
I won't say I'm entirely disinterested with Hyrule Warriors, but I've never touched the Dynasty Warriors series or similar games so I will tentatively say that I probably won't be picking this game up, the huge Zelda fan that I am. That being said, I am a total proponent for post-release updates and content. We're thankfully living in an age where game-breaking glitches and bugs can be patched quickly and easily and the prospect of new content for the game down the road should be enticing for fans as well.
