We didn’t know a whole lot about Xenoblade Chronicles X prior to yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, yet it still made our list of top ten most anticipated games of 2015. Now we know the setup and plot of the WiiU exclusive, as well as some gameplay details.
In the clip below, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata details the game’s story, which follows the survivors of Earth after they crash-land on a habitable planet. The plot will revolve around the group’s attempts at colonization and planetary research, including hunting of indigenous beasts (not unlike that seen in Monster Hunter), through story and side-missions. The survivors' home base is New Los Angeles, a bustling metropolis that serves as a hub for missions and game progression.
The story takes place in a “massive” open world larger than that seen in the game’s predecessor, Xenoblade Chronicles, and will feature a navigation system on the GamePad for easier traversal and exploration.
