You can be almost anything you want in the director’s cut of Wasteland 2 – even a total jerk. Publisher Deep Silver and developer InXile Entertainment released a new trailer today showing off the multitude of character options players can make in and out of battle.

Studio Head for InXile Entertainment Brian Fargo lists the choices players can make as they try to survive in the Arizona wasteland. Character creation includes squad management, character histories, attributes, skills, appearance, and more. Character creation also affects how certain NPCs regard your squad out in the wilds.

New to the director’s cut (other than being on the console platform) of Wasteland 2 is the “Quirks & Perks” system. Quirks are personality traits that can positively or negatively impact a character’s skillset. Quirks like “Twitchy” result in faster combat movement but lowered attack accuracy, while another guarantees constant success with hostile dialogue options at the expense of less uninviting behavior.

Check out the new trailer for more details on Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut’s combat strategies and character creation.

Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut is scheduled to release October 13 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For more on the game's story and scale, check out our coverage of last month's trailer. You can also find our review of the original PC release here.
