Umbrella Corps
While fans wait for the still unannounced Resident Evil 7, Capcom is working hard to keep the enormous franchise front of mind. HD remakes of Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0 have been keeping players busy. Resident Evil Revelations 2 has given them something new to enjoy.
This May, the franchise will go in a direction that hasn’t been terribly kind to it in the past. Umbrella Corps takes cues from the imperfect Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.
While Umbrella Corps is designed as a multiplayer shooter, it will support a single-player mode called “The Experiment.” There will be more than 20 missions that play out similar to a horde mode with objectives.
Capcom has also announced that the village from Resident Evil 4 and the Tricell organization from Resident Evil 5 will both be included as playable locations. Those maps will also feature location-specific computer-controlled enemies, including Ganados from RE4 and Cerberus dogs from RE5.
Umbrella Corps is priced at $30 and will be a digital-only game. It’s currently planned for PlayStation 4 and PC. For more on the team-versus-team-versus-zombies title, check out our most recent preview.
