The new MMO is coming in 2012, and we've got your first glimpse of what to expect.

There's been fan speculation for years about the possibility of a Transformers MMO, but a massively multiplayer game in the popular Hasbro franchise is on the way.

There's not a lot of info yet about the game, but a few tidbits are confirmed. The game is being made with cooperation from Hasbro by Jagex Games Studios, the same team that put out the hugely popular RuneScape. Transformers Universe will be an action focused MMO game in which players create their own Autobot or Decepticon and put them into battle.

For enthusiasts who are familiar with the complicated web of continuities and timelines that make up the Transformers world, this new game will be set with the "Prime" timeline. That includes the book Exodus, the recent War for Cybertron game, and the Transformers: Prime cartoon series that began late last year.
