Theatrhythm Final Fantasy gave players the chance to orchestrate classic series anthems with their 3DS stylus, and Square Enix looks to capture that magic once again with Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call. Now, with the sequel's release upcoming, Square Enix wants fans to perform Final Fantasy's main theme for real, and will reward entrants for doing so.

As part of the Legacy of Music campaign, Square Enix revealed it'll be hosting a contest, judged by series composer Nobuo Uematsu, in which fans submit a video of themselves performing the Final Fantasy main theme. Participants can perform the theme in any manner of their choosing, but the video must be no longer than one minute and 30 seconds, and must also include some kind of signage indicating the participant's favorite Final Fantasy title.

The grand prize winner will earn a slew of themed prizes: a complimentary trip for two to a Distant Worlds: Final Fantasy concert, official soundtracks for each main Final Fantasy titles, a Final Fantasy Static Arts mini figure, a collector's edition of the game signed by Uematsu himself, and a limited edition Curtain Call Japanese 3DS LL. For full details, watch the video below.

In addition to the contest announcement, Square Enix also released a new trailer for Curtain Call focused on the Final Fantasy VII titles, featuring compositions like One-Winged Angel, as well as content from Advent Children and Crisis Core.

The contest begins August 5, and Square Enix will cease accepting submissions August 24. Submissions can be sent to the game's official website.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call launches September 16 for 3DS. For more, view the image gallery below or watch an earlier trailer here.
