The latest game in the Pushmo series just got a stealth launch courtesy of Nintendo.

Pushmo is a portable puzzle game from Intelligent Systems that launched in 2011 to positive reviews, and was followed up by the similarly praised Crashmo in 2012. The series took a step backwards with the Wii-U's Pushmo World in 2014, which ignored Crashmo's advancements, defaulting to the original game's simple mechanics. Intelligent Systems is hoping the series is back on track with today's surprise launch of Stretchmo. As you might guess, the new installment adds a stretching mechanic to Mallo's repertoire.

Stretchmo is available now on the 3DS eShop, with the first 7 puzzles being offered as a free download. After that players can buy several packs, which are detailed below courtesy of Nintendo:

  • Mallo's Playtime Plaza ($4.99): 100 progressively challenging levels that introduce the basics of the game.
  • Poppy's Sculpture Square ($2.99): 50 puzzle levels shaped like animals and objects.
  • Corin's Fortress of Fun ($2.99): 50 levels featuring new gizmo obstacles and enemies.
  • Papa Blox's NES Expo ($2.99): A treat for retro fans that features 50 levels based on classic NES characters.

Additionally, players can buy all four packs for $9.99, or discounted three-pack bundles if you buy one of the packs separately and decide to go all in. We'll bring you more on Stretchmo as soon as we get a chance to download and play it (like I said, the launch was a big – and hopefully happy – surprise).
