One of the big surprises to emerge out of Ubisoft’s E3 press conference was a  brand new franchise and game from Ubisoft Annecy. Apparently drawing inspiration from the very mountains in which the studio is based in France, Steep is a winter vacation gone extreme, filled with opportunities to fly, ski, and explore the French alps. Ubisoft has also stated that the game includes the opportunity to explore the mountains of Alaska.

As revealed during a lengthy demonstration, Steep allows players to ski, snowboard, wingsuit, or paraglide down simulated versions of actual mountains in the two mountainous regions, all the while interacting with friends in an open world of tricks and exploration.

Not only do the new screenshots show off some of the game’s diverse activities, but they also reveal the inherent beauty of the real-world setting of the game, which has us stoked to explore Steep for ourselves. Steep is targeting a release this winter on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
