SimCity BuildIt
EA has announced a new entry in the SimCity franchise, a mobile game called SimCity BuildIt. Rather than trying to port a previous release to smaller screens, this upcoming game looks like it's being engineered for Android and iOS devices.
Details are relatively sparse at this time, but we know that players can develop their communities to ensure that Sims are happy or antagonize them from above like angry gods. EA is promising high-quality graphics and an intuitive touch-based interface. There's no word on a release date, aside from a vague reference that it's "coming soon."
We'll also have to wait and see how the game will be sold. We're crossing our fingers that EA has indeed learned from its Dungeon Keeper misstep, which was riddled with microtransactions. It's certainly possible that players will have to wait for larger structures to be built (or pay to accelerate the process, a la The Simpsons Tapped Out), but it's too early to say.
