A new trailer and a handful of screens were posted for Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire this morning, but there weer a few quick details you might have missed, as well as a few details worth expanding upon.

A few Pokémon were quickly confirmed to be appearing in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, as they were quickly shown in the middle of combat. We saw Grovyle and Swampert in the midst of battle, but they are evolved forms of the starters from the original Ruby and Sapphire, so they're appearances are far from being a surprise.

More interesting were the appearances of Shiftry...

...Torkoal...

... and Geodude and Makuhita. It's also worth noting that horde battles are no longer limited to the wild. Now, up to five trainers can attack you at once.

All of these Pokémon appeared in Pokémon X & Y, so this is not the first time we've seen them in 3D, but it's nice to be able to add them to the list of definitely appearing Pokémon.

Some of the more interesting details from the trailer were small things that flew by. In the contest, Pikachu – dressed a luchador – is wrestling a giant stuffed animal. It's a little weird.

There's also this symbol shown briefly in the background. I's probably just the icon for the new Pokémon Contest Spectacular.

In the press release announcing the Pokémon Contest Spectacular delivering the trailer, it says Pokémon will be rated in one of five categories: Coolness, Beauty, Cuteness, Cleverness, and Toughness. Because of this, showing off a powerful attack won't always be the automatic choice.

The Cosplay Pikachu – who has been shown before – is awarded to players after participating in the Pokémon Contest Spectacular for the first time. He's different than the standard Pikachu you catch in the wild. Its assorted costumes offer more than just aesthetic changes. It also changes what types of attacks Pikcachu can perform.

Pikachu Rock Star can perform Meteor Mash; Pikachu Pop Star can perform Draining Kiss; Pikachu, Ph.D., can learn Electric Terrain; Pikachu Belle can use Icicle Crash; And finally Pikachu Libre can use Flying Press.
