Nippon Ichi has started bringing its library to PC, beginning with Disgaea in February. The latest announcement sees a PlayStation 2 and PSP strategy RPG make its way to Steam this summer.

Originally released in 2004, Phantom Brave mixes up the Strategy RPG genre by making the environment a crucial part of combat. Marona, a young girl who solves problems for others with the help of phantoms must bind them to trees, rocks, flowers, and other objects in order to give them form and substance. This version features the added content featured in the PSP edition.

Each of the different inanimate objects that Marona can bring to life by “confining” a spirit confers different stats. Unfortunately, there is a time limit on how long a character can inhabit an object before they are out of the fight.

Phantom Brave takes some cues from Disgaea, but it offers a unique approach to the genre. It will be out this July on Steam.
