Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions
Namco Bandai's upcoming six-in-one 3DS cart promises a lot of value, but we hadn't seen much of the two new games until now. Feast your eyes on this multitude of screens and be awed. Or perform whatever the culturally appropriate response to Pac-Man and Galaga is in your city, town, or municipality.
Pac-Man Tilt, as you'd expect, asks you to tilt your handheld to navigate the iconic chomper through environments. Also, there are abstract neon backgrounds for some reason. Whatever, it's got to be better than some awful bolted-on plotline about power pellets and ghosts.
Galaga Dimensions is a 3D shooter of sorts, where you shoot down incoming enemies from a turret view. It's too bad Namco missed the augmented reality boat here; I'd Galaga the heck out of my living room. [What does that even mean? –Ed.]
The four older games – Pac-Man, Pac-Man Championship Edition, Galaga, and Galaga Legions – are some of Namco's better back catalog titles. Pac-Man CE in particular has a devoted following in and out of the GI offices, and justifies this cart all on its own for a lot of gamers. We have a bunch of screens for this 67 percent of the cart here for your edification.
Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions comes out this summer.
