Overlord: Fellowship of Evil
The Overlord franchise isn't probably what most of us think of when the word "minion" is uttered these days, thanks in large part to these guys. That said, the yellow pill-shaped goofballs from the Despicable Me movies don't hold a candle to the impish creeps from Codemasters' wicked take on Pikmin when it comes to sheer bloodlust. Overlord: Fellowship of Evil is coming soon, and the Minionstry of Information has released a new trailer designed to reacquaint you with the game's ferocious critters.
Codemasters says the newest entry in the Overlord series isn't a true sequel, which is why it's not being called Overlord III. Instead, the spinoff has a slightly different take on the action. The most obvious change is that the camera has been pulled up from its closer over-the-shoulder third-person perspective to an isometric view similar to what you'd find in dungeon crawlers like Diablo. There's also a focus on co-op, with up to four players locally or online, though you're never really alone in the game. These minions won't ever leave your side. Well, that is, unless your carelessness kills them.
Players will get their hands on all four minion types earlier in the new game, which is important considering the focus on upgrades. Your pals are still eager to drop treasure and other valuables at your feet, and you can use that lucre to upgrade your little buddies. For example, the brown minions can be upgraded with a taunt ability to take the heat off of your character and the other minions. And, of course, you can dress your friends up in armor and other costumes, if you're into that sort of thing.
Overlord: Fellowship of Evil is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC "soon," according to Codemasters.
