Orcs Must Die Unchained
Orcs Must Die Unchained brings Robot Entertainment’s trap-infused, tower defense-meets-action title in a new direction. In the past two iterations, players took on the orc horde by themselves or with a single co-op partner. Unchained switches things up by introducing team-based play.
We had the chance to go hands on at PAX East, and came away impressed by the new MOBA-style blend. What sets Unchained apart from titles like League of Legends though, is that minions, weapons, traps, and spells are all handled like a collectible card game.
Players will build decks to fit their heroes, and then work with teams during player selection to find synergy across characters and builds. Despite the familiar lineage, it felt fresh.
Now, more people are going to have a chance to get in on the action. The closed beta begins on June 27, and you can sign up to be part of it. Head over to the official website to register your interest.
If you're already part of the alpha, you are guaranteed a spot. If you're really eager to play, you can get access right now with a Founder's memberships ranging from $19.99 to $149.99. These different tiers include bonuses like additional characters, skins, in-game currency, and badges that show your Orcs Must Die! loyalty. You can also get codes for you (and friends at some levels) for the first two games in the franchise.
Note: This story originally incorrectly indicated that the beta begins on June 26. Game Informer apologizes for the error.
