Mortal Kombat X
Warner Bros. and NetherRealm are going all-in with System of a Down. One of the band’s most popular songs, Chop Suey, is featured in the launch trailer. And with the game only a little over a week away, the answer to the question “Who’s Next?” is finally “You.”
The launch trailer gives us more quick cuts from the story mode, showing off a number of fighters from previous games not yet announced as playable. You’ll see Nightwolf, members of Baraka’s race (the Tarkatan), and Kabal. As far as we know, none are in the core roster or the announced DLC pass.
In addition to the launch trailer, Warner Bros. sent along a behind-the-scenes video featuring System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian. The musician helped edit the trailer for maximum effect, making sure that the music was punctuated by the crunching of bone and “splortch” of blood.
Mortal Kombat X will be here on April 14 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will be here this summer. For more, check out our hands-on impressions of the story mode.
