I'm not a believer when it comes to the intersection of 3D and gaming, but today I saw a title that made me take it more seriously...even though the game originally came out years ago.

I've been looking forward to the collection from Team Ico since it was first announced, but after playing Shadow of the Colossus on the E3 show floor, I'm even more excited. I fought the first colossus in my demo (while wearing Sony's 3D glasses), and clinging to the massive beast from towering heights marked the first time that I've felt that 3D was actually enhancing my game experience. Climbing the monsters was dizzying before, but once you throw that extra dimension into the equation, the battles feel even grander and more harrowing than ever.

Of course, the collection features Ico as well, and that title sports a few improvements also. It's also in 3D, though it didn't have the same effect on me in the closed corridors. Thankfully, Ico has made the HD transition quite well, and looks great in its remastered form. Plus, it's in widescreen now (instead of the original 4:3 aspect ratio), so you get a better sense of your surroundings.

The whole package includes both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus on one disc for $39.99, so the value is impossible deny for any hardcore gamer. The only downside is that we'll have to wait until September 27 to pick it up.
