In Homefront: The Revolution’s alternate history, North Korea embraces free trade following the Korean War. The country becomes home to a Steve Jobs-like tech genius and the nation flourishes by becoming technologically superior.

Of course, with all of the tech coming out of North Korea and the United States’ hunger for consumables and weaponry, we get into debt. A lot of debt. You can see how that plays out in the game’s opening move:

When we default, the North Koreans switch off all the military hardware they sold us and pay us a visit to offer some “aid.” That turns into an occupation, which in turn gets violent.

That’s where the resistance comes in, and players get to start taking about Philadelphia piece by bloody piece. You can see how it all begins in a mockumentary about the Apex corporation.

Homefront: The Revolution will be out on May 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For more on the game, check out our previous coverage.
