The eternal battle between the Bats and the Jokerz rages on at Gamescom with a new mode inspired by Battlefield’s Conquest.

Back at E3, Jeff Cork gave a thorough rundown of the basic info on Gotham City Imposters and detailed the Psychological Warfare mode. Now it’s time to talk Fumigation. The setup at Warner Bros. featured 3 vs. 3 play, but the game features up to 6 vs. 6. We played on the crime alley map and let me tell you, it’s awesome to be able to teabag a fat guy dressed as Batman on the very spot where a young Bruce Wayne saw his parents shot dead.

Fumigation mode places three gas blasters around the map and you have to hang out around each of them until it’s claimed for your team. It shoots green gas when your team has it and red when it’s possessed by the opposing team.

For the most part, it plays pretty standard. It’s the navigation gadgets that makes Imposters stand out. The grapple gun allows you to zip up to most rooftops, and then once you’re up there you can traverse to other buildings across the street horizontally. The glide wings let you coast along whenever you jump. Plenty of trampolines are scattered everywhere so you can get a lot of air instantly. You can even do a ground pound on top of enemies from the floating state.

The Bats ended up winning, and as a payoff, loads of bats swooped in and killed all the Jokerz. Apparently, when the Jokerz win, the whole stage fills with poison gas.

All of the things you did while in the match contribute to your experience and overall level. Level ups will unlock new weapons, gadgets, and support items. But that’s not all. Players will also earn costume points to spend on new cosmetic items.

Imposters is set to come out in early 2012 for the cheap price of 1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live or $14.99 on PlayStation Network. To see Imposters' customization options, check out this video.
