After you conquer the trials of Fable III and become the undisputed ruler of Albion, life can get a little boring. Thankfully, the life of your stagnating king or queen is about to get shook up with an assassination attempt thanks to the upcoming Traitor’s Keep DLC. I got a chance to play through a section of this fresh content at the Microsoft Games Showcase in San Francisco, and am here to tell you about my shocking encounter with a mad scientist.

After investigating the failed assassination attempt, your king discovers that three criminals have escaped from the prison called Traitor’s Den. The quest to apprehend or slay these miscreants eventually leads to The Inventor’s Island, where the demo picks up.

Inventor’s Island is similar to Disneyworld’s World of Tomorrow – a glimpse into the technologically advanced and idealized future. This supposed future only takes place a mere 15 years out and involves well-mannered robots milling about with neighbors in their neatly manicured, white picket-fenced yards. Well, they’re well-mannered until the evil Professor Faraday senses your intrusion. After that, the maniac machinations begin attacking. Thankfully my king had a trusty new robotic dog to help out and discover helpful treasures.

After fighting through waves of the robots, we went toe-to-toe with the mad scientist himself. He was equipped with robotic armor that he claimed made him a super soldier. The ensuing boss battle consisted of Faraday using a bull rush attack, shooting missiles and electricity, and performing a deadly area of effect attack. Not after long I whittled him down to nothing and brought him to his knees. I chose to spare the demented doctor and brought him back to my castle to continue my quest for my other would-be murderers.

Fable III’s Traitor’s Keep DLC releases March 1 exclusively for Xbox Live at the price of 560 Microsoft points. So far it’s shaping up to be an adventure worth the price of admission, especially if you’re getting homesick for Albion.

Fable: Coin Golf

Windows Phone 7 is getting a new Fable experience in the form of Coin Golf. This fun little distraction combines the sliding physics of air hockey with the trick shots of mini golf. Players collect as many coins as possible on the way to the sinking the disk in the hole. Money can be racked up for both the PC and console versions of the game, and playing it also unlocks three exclusive weapons for the Traitor’s Keep DLC. If you liked earning extra spending money in Pub Games, but would like to do so on the go, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for Fable: Coin Golf when it hits in March.
