EyePet was a slight, but very charming, title that featured some impressive augmented reality technology. Sony has just announced a sequel to the game, EyePet & Friends, that will allow two players to raise separate EyePets or collaborate in raising one together.

Players can now team up with a friend and use a pair of Move controllers to raise a little nuclear family of fun. Sony says you can raise one EyePet first and then add to your family later, but does reveal that two EyePets that are born together "may form a stronger bond."

Sony is also adding more in the way of content and community functions. You'll be able to trade clips of your EyePet and trophies with other owners in a new EyePet online community, as well as get tips and tricks for training your lil' furball. There's also a new Creativity Center where you can craft new content like outfits for your EyePet. The game will dole out EyePet Tokens for your in-game activity, which can be redeemed at the in-game Pet Store.

EyePet & Friends will be released later this year.
