Extreme Exorcism
Halloween may be the only holiday that delights in all things spooky and supernatural, but developer Golden Ruby Games wants to bring its spirit into 2015 with the paranormal-themed arena platformer Extreme Exorcism.
Players will control Mae Barrons, an exorcist tasked with purging a haunted house of its ghostly occupants. Mae is more hardcore than other members of her profession; instead of wielding the tried-and-true combo of a cross, bible, and holy water, she brandishes a lethal arsenal of swords, guns, explosives, and even a razor-edged boomerang.
Extreme Exorcism hopes to earn its title not just with Mae's unconventional take on her profession, but also with challenging matches that get tougher the longer you play them. Each time you cut down a ghost, another appears in its place. These ghosts will mimic your moves, meaning you’ll have to strategically think about your platforming if you plan to make it to the end of the match.
Extreme Exorcism hosts a variety of different gameplay modes. Players can brave a 10-area story alone, or with up to four friends in local multiplayer. In the customizable death match mode, players can tweak weapons load outs, how the ghosts spawn, and what abilities they can use against you. There’s also a challenge mode tailor-made for extreme playstyles, as well as online leaderboards so you can see how you stack up with the rest of the world.
Extreme Exorcism is set for a 2015 release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Check out the gallery for your first look at its haunted arenas.
