As host Adam Sessler points out, Evolve is fundamentally a game of hide and seek. While one features decidedly less monster hunting, the success of both of those game is largely dependent on where you play. Finding your friends in a wooded area might be a blast, but moving the game over to an empty basketball court would ruin the game. In a new video, Sessler sits down with members of Evolve's development team to discuss how they worked to make sure that their game's setting, Planet Shear, would make the action as fun as possible.

Studio heads Chris Ashton and Phil Robb explain that they faced several challenges when designing the world. They had to strike a balance between making levels not overly large, to where players couldn't find one another, while also making them big enough to allow players to escape. And building maps that prevented players from constantly having line-of-sight contact with the enemy was tricky, too. They could add bushes and trees in forested areas, but what do you do in a desert? As Ashton says, you can only put in so many rocks.

Watch the video below to see how they approached these challenges and more. The video is filled with early footage of the game, so it's worth a look even if you think you already know everything about the game.

Evolve is set to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on February 10.
