Atlus has revealed that Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Chosen Fafnir is coming to the west this summer. Like the previous Etrian Odyssey Untold, Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold essentially offers two games in one. The classic mode is a 3DS remake of Etrian Odyssey II with a full section of classes to choose from when building your party, updated graphics, and new convenience features.

The prime attraction is the new story mode, which features a fixed party of five adventurers, voice acting, animated cutscenes and the story of the Fafnir Knight and the princess Arianna. The two main characters are joined by Flavio, a hero from the Midgard Library, and two adventurers named Bertrand and Chloe which you can meet in the opening trailer above. In the story mode you’ll alternate between exploring the Ginnungagap Ruins and the Yggdrasil Labyrinth.

The Fafnir Knight is a new class for Etrian Odyssey exclusive to the story mode that can transform into a demonic form to boost his abilities. Like Etrian Odyssey Untold and Persona Q, there are two difficulty modes, Picnic and Expert, for both modes of the game.

Etrian Odyssey Untold 2: The Chosen Fafnir will come to both retail and the eShop for $49.99 sometime this summer. Atlus promises to reveal pre-order items, DLC info, and more sometime in the future. If that seems too far ahead, you can look forward to the upcoming crossover game Etrian Mystery Dungeon and its pre-order bonuses for when it launches on April 7.
