Dragon Quest Heroes’ new trailer gives players an in-depth roll call of its ensemble cast. Get to know the hack n' slash title's original characters and reacquaint yourself with familiar names from Dragon Quest's past such as DQ V’s Bianca and DQ VIII’s Yangus.

The video also showcases gameplay systems, such as monster medals. Defeating monsters occasionally transforms them into special tokens that allow players to summon that creature to fight alongside them. Armory and alchemy shops provide destinations to upgrade warrior's equipment and create accessories, respectively.

Fighters can be improved by equipping them with stat-raising orbs and by learning new abilities unlocked from skill trees. The heroes will need all the help they can get to combat the terrible foes terrorizing the kingdom of Erusaze, including the main baddie, Velasco.

Unlike traditional DQ titles, Dragon Quest Heroes is a Dynasty Warriors-style action game developed by Omega Force and Koei Tecmo. Check out our hands-on impression of the series' new direction.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World's Tree and the Blight Below arrives on PlayStation 4 in North America on October 13.
