Batman: Arkham City
Warner Bros. and Rocksteady have finally given a release date for the long-awaited Batman: Arkham City. If you're planning to take on the Joker and the rest of Batman's rogues gallery, you'll want to set aside some time in the middle of October.
Batman: Arkham City is coming to North America on October 18 on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. In addition to the release date, Warner Bros. and Rocksteady Studios has released a trio of new screens from Batman: Arkham City--and there's a lot to take in. Eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed the Sionis Industries sign from an earlier trailer, but this is the first time we've been given a good look at the imposing structure.
If you're wondering about the relevance of Sionis Industries, never fear. The Sionis family were wealthy industrialists in Gotham City. Roman Sionis eventually inherited the Janus Cosmetics Corporation from his father and ran it into bankruptcy. He developed a hatred for Bruce Wayne and Batman, eventually taking on the persona of the Black Mask. You may have seen his wooden mask mounted on the all of Dr. Young's office in Batman: Arkham Asylum. Warner isn't talking much about the cast of Batman: Arkham City at this point, but it would be odd to feature the family name so prominently and not follow through with a Black Mask sighting. Another shot shows Batman high above what looks like a foundry, which could certainly fit with the industrial setting.
The final image shows off one of the Joker's goons. Judging from the size of his opponent, Batman will have his hands full when the game is out.
