Namco Bandai Announces New Aerial Combat Title
Ace Combat has always been a cheesy, over the top, arcade-style aerial action game. Now, the franchise is returning to its PlayStation roots with Ace Combat Infinity.
The series' most recent iteration, Ace Combat Assault Horizon, garnered critical praise (including from Game Informer) especially for the inclusion of a new dogfight mode. Assault Horizon also switched settings from a fictionalized planet to our own.
The trailer for Ace Combat Infinity gives a glimpse of a meteor crashing down on the northeastern part of North America. Whether this is directly related to the Ulysses asteroid of the series' Strangereal continuity or simply a nod toward Ace Combats of the past is unclear so far.
We're eager to learn more about where the series is going, especially since Namco Bandai is indicating it will only be on PlayStation 3.
