Jim Carrey In Talks To Play Dr. Robotnik In Sonic Movie

Remember how every few weeks we get casting news on the Sonic movie and it's always hilarious? This time it might be intentionally so!

According to Deadline, Jim Carrey of Truman Show, Man on the Moon, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind fame among many, many others, is in negotiations to play Sonic villain Dr. Robotnik. In the story, Deadline also refers to him as Dr. Eggman, so I wouldn't get my hopes up about the Sonic movie righting the wrongs of Robotnik's Sonic Adventure 2 English name change.

From what we know of the movie, it is a mixture of live action and CG and might be a buddy cop movie where Sonic and X-Men star James Marsden team up to take down Dr. Robotnik. The movie is scheduled for release in winter of next year, with or without Jim Carrey.
