Great Scott! Nike Making Back To The Future Shoes!

by Andrew Reiner on Sep 08, 2011 at 06:50 AM

Update: The shoes are real. Nike will be auctioning off 1,500 of them on Ebay starting tonight. Word on the streets is that this is the entire run of the shoes. All proceeds go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation and the search for a cure to Parkinson's disease. I'm going to throw in as much cash as I can for a pair. Wish me luck!

Frank Marshall, the producer of the amazing Back to the Future films, tweeted "Something big is coming soon. Can't say anything yet. No one should know too much about their own destiny. #BTTF." He followed his tweet up with a YouTube video that clearly shows Nike is making a line of shoes inspired by the self-lacing sneakers Marty McFly wore in 2015. As you can see, they have flashing lights, a neon glow, and what would appear to be self-lacing technology.

I want these shoes, but to be completely honest, I'd probably never wear them in public. If I did, I might as well wear other things I want, like Captain America's shield or Darth Vader's helmet.

We'll know more about this exciting development tonight when Nike officially unveils them at a Hollywood party at 8:30 PT.
