My Mass Effect 1 Save Not Freakin' Working!!!!!!

by Matthew Kato on Jan 26, 2010 at 04:16 PM

UPDATE 2: PROBLEM SOLVED!! WOOOOO! ME 2 didn't like that I had all those saves on a different profile than the one currently on my Elite. Bertz suggested I import my old profile over to the new Elite HD, and that did the trick, thankfully. Thanks to him and everyone who helped along the way. The only problem now is that I'm stuck at work!

I've been hyped to play Mass Effect 2 since forever. I went and got it at lunch today, actually did some work at the office (just ask Miller), and now that I'm sitting down to play ME 2, for some god-forsaken reason my *** ME 1 save doesn't work! I've got a long list of them on my hard drive, but ME 2 can't find any of them.

I'm currently scouring the ME 2 forums, and it seems that there are people in my boat. Is it because I might have transferred my original ME 1 save from an old hard drive? Perhaps, I've got the ME 1 saves on a newer 120GB Elite, but I don't remember if I played ME 1 originally on my older 360 HD. Some of my saves aren't listed to my current profile, but instead read "unknown profile." The 360 let me switch over all but one to my current profile. I have a bad feeling that the one it won't let me transfer is the important one that ME 2 needs to read.

If this is all happening because I upgraded to a Elite after my original 360 got the Red Rings, I'm going to be very pissed. My punishment for my 360 crapping out is that a couple years later it ruins my ME 2 experience?! YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!

I'm sure there are those of you out there with the same predicament. I'll see what I can find out and update you here accordingly. Do me a favor and cross your fingers for me. Because if I can't somehow get my ME 1 save over to ME 2, I'm going to be going to a very dark place in my soul.

UPDATE: It seems the easiest thing to do would be play through ME 1 with a save before the end. Bad news: I don't have ME 1 anymore. Looks like I'll have to get it from work before I can test things out again. Total buzz kill.
