Friday Rock Recs: Royal Blood – "Little Monster"
This blog series is something I've been wanting to do for a while, so when I found myself with a little spare time on a Friday afternoon, I figured I could see how it goes. One of my biggest hobbies outside is video games is discovering new music to listen to. Each Thursday night when the iTunes store puts out the latest tracks and albums, I browse to see if any new releases catch my ear. I've discovered a ton of awesome bands this way, and I want to pass on some of my discoveries in hopes that you'll enjoy them as much as I do.
Some of these songs will be lesser known bands, while others could just be songs from acts that everyone is familiar with. Even then, I'll do my best to shine some light on maybe some of their deeper cuts if I'm familiar with them. I'm going to try and do this every week, so while I may miss out on a week here or there during some of the busier times, be sure to check my blog each Friday for more recommendations. Also, feel free to send me recommendations of your own – I'm always looking for more music to listen to!
This first week, I'm looking at a band that has received some good radio play and has been licensed in a ton of things in the entertainment world from Quantum Break and Guitar Hero Live to the Entourage movie. The band even went out on tour with the Foo Fighters for a little bit last fall, exposing them to as big of an audience as you can hope for. Royal Blood is an English duo that caught my attention for their heavy guitar riffs, massive hooks, and great songwriting. I feel that each of those qualities is captured in one of their more popular songs, "Little Monster." Check it out in the video below!
