Welcome to the first official post of The[Crafty]Gamer! Read on to learn more about Minnesota native Ashley Hay, her T-shirt designs and what it took to put these pieces together.

Use this post as a reference on how future posts will be laid out. If you're interested in submitting any of your video game inspired creations (doesn't matter if you're a rookie or a pro) check out the submission guidelines. I welcome all things creative in any medium so keep the submissions coming! Enough of my blabbing. Let's get started.

The[Crafty]Gamer: Ashley Hay

Age: 24

Hometown: St. Paul, MN

Occupation: Graphic Designer

Creation #1: Mad Gamer Shirt Concept

Tell us about the piece. What’s the inspiration behind it?
I am an artist at heart, but ever since I started my design career
I wanted to put my art on shirts. This is a shirt design I would love
to print some day. It is a Mad Scientist creating pixel characters
with her robot helper.

How much time did it take to create?
I first drew it out on paper, which took about an hour. I then scanned
it in and created the vector image in illustrator. So probably 4 hours total.

Is it available for purchase anywhere? If so, where and how much?
It isn't printed anywhere yet. :(

Creation #2: Lazy Man's Cosplay-King Koopa

Tell us about the piece. What’s the inspiration behind it?
I am really into cosplay and I love the idea of becoming someone
else for a day. Villains can be fun and I really like Bowser from the
Mario series so I decided to make it so I could be him.

How much time did it take to create?
This was an earlier idea so it took me a while to get my skill level up.
Most likely a total of 4 hours once I had it down.

Is it available for purchase anywhere? If so, where and how much?
It is available for pre-order at shop.FancyPantsGangsters.com. I am a host of
one of their podcasts called Yet Another Gaming Show so I can put designs
up in the store. The Fancy Pants crew is a bunch of nerds that I
have a blast with.

Creation #3: Lazy Man's Cosplay-Gundam Wing

Tell us about the piece. What’s the inspiration behind it?
It goes along the lines of the Koopa shirt. A Gundam is a big
walking/flying robot. Who wouldn't want to be one?!

How much time did it take to create?
This one took me about 3 hours.

Is it available for purchase anywhere? If so, where and how much?
Yep. Head over to shop.FancyPantsGangsters.com again to
pre-order the mecha goodness.

Any other information you’d like to share about yourself?
I am just a huge nerd all around and love every minute of it.
If anyone has ideas of a cool cosplay shirt design, I would love to hear it.
The goal of these shirts is to make people happy and smile. People
should stop you and say: "That shirt is awesome." They should bring geeks
together.

I am a freelancer always looking for side jobs, too. You can check
out my online portfolio at www.HeyAshley.com. I'm on XBL
and would love to play with some cool, new people. My Gamertag
is Kannaya. Thanks for checking out my work!
