The[Crafty]Gamer: Blog For The Gamer/Artisan

by Annette Gonzalez on Oct 01, 2009 at 10:25 AM

Welcome to the new home of Game Informer online! The new site gives us all the opportunity to really break beyond the pages of the magazine to deliver more content and interact with the gaming community.

We’re all here because we have a common hobby: playing video games. Not only do these blogs give us the opportunity to chat about what we’re playing, industry happenings and more, but also let us go beyond the controller and talk about the culture as a whole. In the video game world we not only have gamers, we have cosplayers, toy makers, musicians, artists and more who find a way to link these hobbies back to video games (check out other editors’ blogs that cover some of these hobbies). In an industry that demands insurmountable creativity from its developers, it’s no surprise that fans ooze with creativity of their own.

There’s a solid chance you’ve seen pretty interesting game-related work online that includes anything from hand-crafted Xbox controller soap to Final Fantasy cuff links. People have created LEGO displays and YouTube videos as a tribute to their favorite games. There is a lot of really awesome stuff out there and I’d like to use this blog to highlight the cute, the funny, the quirky and downright creative work created by people like us.

If you have anything you’ve worked on that you think should be highlighted in this blog or know of something you want to share drop me a line. I'll accept art in any medium. Check out my next post for submission guidelines.
