GI Show – The Pokémon Spectacular

by Kyle Hilliard on Mar 03, 2016 at 12:00 PM

Pokémon is celebrating 20 years since the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan, and in honor of the occasion, we've put together a show discussing all things Pokémon.

Game Informer's biggest Pokémon fan, Ben Hanson, is joined by Kyle Hilliard to reminisce about their history with the series, while Andrew Reiner talks about about how the game was received when it landed in North America in 1998. At the time of release, few could have guessed it would become the juggernaut it is today. For the second segment, we look back at one of our favorite interviews with Pokémon producer, director, and composer Junichi Masuda, and give intern Joe Buchholz an opportunity to show off one of his surprise secret skills. Finally, for the final segment, Ben Hanson and Dan Tack participate in a competition while Andrew Reiner and Jeff Marchiafava officiate.

You can watch the video below, or subscribe and listen to the audio on iTunes. We may have skipped the reader e-mails segment this week, but please continue to send your emails to podcast@gameinformer.com for a chance to have them answered on the show and win a prize by becoming Email of the Week!
