Eevee Joins The Cast Of Tekken 7

by Imran Khan on Apr 01, 2018 at 03:29 PM

Only one fighter can stop the devil gene from running amok and bring peace to the world. It's not Akuma, Geese, or Noctis – it's the Pokemon Eevee.

Eevee has been announced as the next guest character for Tekken 7, finally making good on the years of fan outcry and requests desperate to get the Pokemon into the series. It makes sense that, after creating Pokken, Bandai Namco immediately turned around and got its star (sadly limited to an assist) into Tekken.

Tekken boss Harada himself commented on the inclusion, saying via machine translation "I was worried about how well it would fit into the Tekken world, but the first voice when we saw the screen for the first time was 'zero discomfort'."

Tekken 7 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Our Take
This one takes a little bit of explaining. Project Eevee is a Pokemon Company initiative to push Eevee merchandise after a successful line of dolls. Since November of last year, there has been a social media account for Project Eevee that alerts people to new merchandise and shows Eevee dolls in pictures with Japanese celebrities and on the street hanging with people. There have been people jokingly asking the Project Eevee account to cross over into Tekken 7, which is where this joke comes from.
