Skyrim Switch Studio Publicly Offers To Port Monster Hunter World For Capcom
Iron Galaxy, a studio known for lots of mercenary work on ports and also titles like Killer Instinct and Extinction, has publicly offered their services to Capcom to help port Monster Hunter World to Switch.
Capcom has previously described the process of porting Monster Hunter World to Switch as "difficult," which is about as nice a way you can say unlikely as you can get. Enter former vice president of developer relations at Sony Interactive Entertainment and current Iron Galaxy CEO Adam Boyes, who has taken to Twitter to ease that process.
"Dear @monsterhunter team at Capcom - we understand that porting the game to Nintendo Switch is challenging," Boyes wrote and included a URL to a Kotaku article, "but this is exactly what @IToTheG does. Give us a shot & we won’t let you down ;)"
In further tweets, Boyes calls the task "Hard, but not impossible," and seemed to be quite serious about wanting to do it.
Capcom reported today that Monster Hunter World on its current consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, has shipped 7.5 million units since release, with Capcom already having declared it their fastest selling game ever, and is now the best selling title in Capcom's history. When asked about Iron Galaxy's offer, Capcom declined to comment.
I struggle to imagine how Monster Hunter World would run on Switch, but I'd love to see Iron Galaxy's attempts, as I can definitely imagine them surprising us. My guess is that a different MH game will eventually come to Switch with slightly smaller areas but all the quality of life improvements.
