Bethesda Returning With Showcase At E3 2018

by Robbie Key on Mar 02, 2018 at 02:54 PM

For the fourth year in a row, Bethesda Softworks will host another showcase the weekend before E3 in 2018.

There's currently little news of what's on the horizon from the publisher, which prides itself on single-player stories, so we have very little to go off regarding what Bethesda plans to show. However, this announcement trailer could give hints of what's to come. Papercraft versions of characters and creatures from Bethesda's various properties are featured, including Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Quake, Prey, Doom, Evil Within, and Wolfenstein.

We likely won't see anything about Prey, Wolfenstein, Evil Within, or Dishonored since those franchises either released new entries within the past year or put out the last of its downloadable content. News about content updates for Elder Scrolls: Legends, Elder Scrolls Online, and Fallout Shelter are safe assumptions. After going through a closed beta and early access phase last year, there's a strong chance Quake Champions will get a release date. The showcase would also be a prime time to announce a Doom sequel or another id Software project since it will have been over two years since the reboot released.

With Elder Scrolls, the most info we've had regarding the sixth game is when Todd Howard in June 2016 simply confirmed its existence but said two projects have to be worked on before it releases. Since Howard's statement, Bethesda Game Studios released VR versions of Skyrim and Fallout 4, which could be the two projects. There's a chance details could emerge on the anticipated follow-up. After all, the release gap between Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 is seven years, and Skyrim will have released seven years ago this year.

The Bethesda E3 2018 Showcase will stream at 6:30 p.m. PT on Sunday, June 10.
