Gravity Rush 2 Servers Getting Six-Month Extension, Shutting Down In July

by Suriel Vazquez on Jan 13, 2018 at 04:41 PM

Originally scheduled to shut down this coming Friday, Gravity Rush 2's servers are now scheduled to stay up for six more months.

Players logging into Gravity Rush 2 received a notice telling them about the change. Rather than shutting down on January 19, the servers will now stay up until July 18, 10pm Pacific Time.

While the servers aren't vital to the game, they do add some nice perks. While the servers are up, players will be able to send or receive new challenges and treasure hunts from others, view leaderboards for various tasks, receive Dusty Tokens (used to buy various pieces of furniture for the photo mode). Sony is still increasing the number of Dusty Tokens players receive from various tasks until the servers shut down.

Our Take
While the extension is great, it's still a bit shocking that Gravity Rush 2's servers will only be up for one-and-a-half years. The online portions aren't vital, but the treasure hunts were a great bit of community building, and I'm sad to see them go in July.
