Xbox One Version Of PUBG Reaches Three Million Players

by Suriel Vazquez on Jan 11, 2018 at 03:25 PM

Despite a rocky launch on Xbox's Game Preview program, PUBG's phenomenon status has carried over to the console, where it has surpassed over three million players.

The popularity of the game puts even more of an onus on developer PUBG Corp. to improve the game, and Xbox General Manager of Game Marketing Aaron Greenberg states in the blog post announcing the three million number that the team wants to do just that. "

You’ll continue to see regular updates roll out for PUBG on Xbox One such as this week’s addition of first-person support for solo, duo, and squads gameplay and the team is just getting started, with more updates planned that include additional game optimization and the new Miramar map," Greenberg says.

The three million number is no doubt a great milestone, but is still no match for the PC version, which has hit an all-time high of 3 million concurrent players and nearly 28 million copies sold.

Our Take
Even with major competitors like Fortnite on console, PUBG continues to steamroll sales records. I'm curious about whether the PC and console versions begin diverting at some point. Does auto-aim get introduced to accommodate the relatively imprecise shooting on console? Either way, this bodes well for PUBG's future in 2018.
