Fox Shakes Up Dates For Superhero Movies, Moving Up Deadpool 2

by Imran Khan on Jan 11, 2018 at 03:37 PM

Fox is changing up dates for Deadpool 2, Gambit, and The New Mutants, moving Deadpool 2 up in the process to May 19, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The new date moves the Deadpool sequel just ahead of Disney and Lucasfilm's Solo: A Star Wars Story, which is currently targeting a May 25 release. It is only a two week bump, but Deadpool two weeks earlier is always good news, and is likely to get out of the way of Solo's second week.

Similarly, Gambit is being moved from Valentine's Day 2019 all the way to June 7 of the same year. The movie stars Channing Tatum, but recently lost director Gore Verbinski, so the delay makes sense.

Finally, The New Mutants, a horror genre take on the X-Men universe, gets the biggest delay. The movie has been pushed back ten months from April 13, 2018 to February 22, 2019.
