Awesome Games Done Quick Starts This Sunday

If you love charity, video games, and things going fast, then Speed Demos Archive has you covered next week from Sunday, January 7 through the following Sunday on January 14.

The charity event, which benefits the Prevent Cancer Foundation, has been an annual stable since its first showing in 2010. Each year, speedrunners gather together and stream games for both live and online audiences with the intent of beating them as quickly as possible, often with certain parameters. People donate money for charity to cheer the runners on, put money toward incentives like saving the animals in Super Metroid or what to name characters, and win prizes donated by the community.

I end up watching the stream as much as I can during the week, and again six months later when Summer Games Done Quick takes place. This year, the event starts with the N. Sane Trilogy version of Crash 3, includes a Yoshi's Island four-way race, and ends with an all-main quest run of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

You can find the streaming information here and take a look at the entire week's schedule here. Don't miss it!
