World of Tanks is getting a "1.0" update in March 2018, one that will include a new graphics engine, HD maps, and new music.

The in-house CORE engine is the major game-changer, and will add a lot of life to the death-laden battlefields. In addition to new effects and models, look forward to responsive water and realistic terrain- it's a significant graphical revamp for the game.

25 maps are being overhauled to meet the demands of modern graphics, but the new sounds may be an even bigger draw. Dynamic music that changes based on the course of the action and what's happening on the field ranges from Gregorian chants to Arabic compositions, with each map being tied to its own atmospheric sounds.

The 1.0 rollout is scheduled for a March release, although the exact date has yet to be revealed.

Our Take
World of Tanks is an online multiplayer staple, and after so many years of tinkering with the tanks, an upgrade like this could be a real showstopper. Ancient games like World of Warcraft and League of Legends and the like that have been tied to their amazing gameplay but sometimes held back by graphics as standards change over the years are much the same. This patch looks substantial and I can't wait to get blown up with way better visuals when it hits.
